Winter in Canada can be very cold and snowy, especially here in the mountains. To bring a little warmth to this long and cold season I decided to turn a few tiles into winter themed trivets. Sassy Cheryl carries a wide variety of fun winter images that would work perfectly for my project. Deciding upon a simple and clean snowman, Admiring the Star became the image of choice.
As I was working on my first tile, I noticed there was a slight coating that did not allow the Copic ink to soak in as much as I would have liked. Therefore I gave the following three tiles a light sanding which allowed for much better coverage.
The white on the snowmen was painted with an acrylic wash, and the boots with a black acrylic paint. The remainder of the image was coloured with my wonderful Copic markers.
To finish this project off I applied some cork to the back adhering it with contact cement. Finally I used sprayed a fixative to seal the image. As a result you have this super cute winter trivet bringing warmth and a smile to any kitchen.
Keep warm and safe,
